Joshua Hurssey, senior at Mississippi Valley State University spent his summer doing research at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. His research is entitled, ““Evaluation of Bone Marrow and Subcutaneous Fat in Ovariectomized Rats Following Sustained Delivery of Estrogen or NPY – 1Receptor Antagonist.” His goal is to pursue an MD/PhD and to eventually become a surgeon.

He said his summer experience introduced him to people who can become his mentors in the future. “There are things I’ve learned through this program like Biostatics, Histology, and Pathology that I know will be beneficial to me in Medical School. Learning many lab techniques has given me a jump start in years to come,” said Hurssey.
