Community Organization PROPOSE Award

Funding Opportunity Description
The Mississippi IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence (MS-INBRE) invites Community Organization ENGAGE Awardees to apply for the PROPOSE Award. The PROPOSE Award is intended to support the continuation of projects funded by the ENGAGE awards with the goal of grant proposal development and submission. MS-INBRE seeks to enhance research capacity within community organizations and research infrastructure between organizations and academic settings. PROPOSE applications must demonstrate the potential for future research capacity with a solid pilot project and proposal submission plan.
This award is for two years of funding. Project must propose a one-year pilot study, including research for secondary data collection on a health issue related to the focus of the organization and presents a clear trajectory towards developing the science for a research proposal. The proposal must identify/highlight an open external NIH announcement that fits the project goals and includes a submission date within the award timeframe.
Eligibility
Eligible applicants include community organizations who have previously successfully completed the Community ENGAGE Award phase. Must have systems and policies in place to manage funds and activities. Academic research centers and academic healthcare organizations are not eligible to apply for these awards.
Amounts
Total allowable direct costs: $40,000/year for 2 years for proposals that include preliminary data collection in addition to proposal development. Indirect costs (F&A) are in addition to the allowable direct costs.
Be sure to include Consultant fees in your proposal budget ($4,000 per person/per year) for faculty collaborator involvement.
Emerging Research Institution/PUI Award ($15-20K direct/year) to support faculty and students involvement in research (separate from the $40,000 per year PROPOSE budget). This will be a separate subcontract to the PUI from MS-INBRE and not managed as a subcontract from PROPOSE applicant. PUI Budget narrative and scope of work should also be included.
