Join us for Mississippi IDeA/EPSCoR Conference 2022, featuring Mississippi Health Disparities! This unique meeting will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2022, at the Lake Terrace Convention Center in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
Mississippi IDeA/EPSCoR Conference 2022 will offer concurrent oral and poster sessions on individual biomedical research and health disparities tracks, student competitions, and an exhibitor pavilion to connect various scientists, healthcare stakeholders, and social determinants of health leaders with the common goal to address health disparities and facilitate collaborations amongst biomedical researchers in the Deep South. This conference is also designed to provide a stimulating opportunity for Mississippi students who are pursuing careers in health-related fields.

Join us for Mississippi IDeA/EPSCoR Conference 2022, featuring Mississippi Health Disparities (MHD2022)! This unique meeting will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2022, at the Lake Terrace Convention Center in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
Mississippi IDeA/EPSCoR Conference 2022 will offer concurrent oral and poster sessions on individual STEM and MHD2022 tracks. Competitions for undergraduate students will take place throughout the day. The conference will also feature an exhibitor pavilion to connect scientists, engineers, healthcare stakeholders, and health leaders from across the state. These various stakeholder groups will be brought together with the common goal to increase in-state STEM research, as well as address health disparities in Mississippi.
This conference is designed to provide a stimulating opportunity for Mississippi students who are pursuing careers in STEM and health-related fields. We are excited to facilitate collaborations amongst STEM researchers and public health professionals in the Deep South through this unique conference organization.

Mission: The Mississippi IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence (Mississippi INBRE) is a network of colleges and universities, designed to build a biomedical research infrastructure in Mississippi. Mississippi Health Disparities
Mission: Mississippi Health Disparities (MHD) is an annual health disparities symposium hosted by Mississippi INBRE. MHD was founded in 2021. Our mission is to eliminate health disparities in Mississippi and create healthier, more equitable communities. MHD is the premiere symposium for health professionals across the state to meet and share knowledge on a variety of topics concerning health disparities. If you’re dedicated to creating a healthier Mississippi, whether you’re an MD, PharmD, RN or other health professional, register today and join our growing movement.
Center for Emergent Molecular Optoelectronics
Vision: The vision of the Center for Emergent Molecular Optoelectronics (CEMOs) is to position Mississippi as an emerging leader in the rapidly advancing field of optoelectronic materials research, impacting sectors such as energy, photonics, and biomedical technology, through sustained interdisciplinary research and education initiatives that enhance the STEM workforce and stimulate the state’s economy.
Mission: The mission of the project is to establish a sustainable statewide interdisciplinary research infrastructure that will enable Mississippi to address fundamental challenges associated with advanced materials, increase the state’s competitiveness in optoelectronics research, and drive cross-fertilization of research, education, training, and entrepreneurship to build the STEM workforce.

Housing & Travel
The Lake Terrace Convention Center (1 Convention Center Plaza, Hattiesburg, MS 39401) is located approximately a half-mile due southeast from the Highway 49/I-59 Intersection in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Many hotel accommodations are available within a 10 to 15 minute drive along Highway 49 both north and south. The University of Southern Mississippi is around 2 miles due south.
