The annual South Central Branch, American Society for Microbiology Meeting was held on October 19-21, 2017 in Little Rock, Arkansas. At this year’s meeting, Mississippi INBRE was represented by nine faculty and students who presented research both in oral presentations and in poster presentations.

Two of those students received awards for their presentations. Graduate student, Justin Batte, from the lab of Dr. Mohamed Elasri was awarded Most Outstanding Poster Presentation. Also, graduate student, Sally White, from the lab of Dr. Janet Donaldson, was awarded the R. J. Strawinski Memorial Research Award which recognizes special presentations by graduate students.
