Students will be introduced to genetic engineering using the isolation, purification, and amplification of specific DNA fragments. Molecular cloning will be performed with the Gibson Assembly Method. Green-fluorescent protein (gfp) will be cloned into plasmid and transformed into Escherichia coli.
