Anait S. Levenson, MD, PhD

Anait S. Levenson, MD, PhD received her MD from the Second Moscow State Medical Institute and her PhD from the Institute of Tuberculosis, and postdoctoral training at the University of Virginia and Northwestern University. She is currently Professor of Cancer Research and Pharmacology at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Long Island University. Before her current appointment at LIU, she was at Northwestern University Medical School for 10 years, followed by the Cancer Institute of UMMC from 2010–2015. Her research is focused on prostate cancer and use of natural polyphenols for chemoprevention and treatment. She has authored over 60 peer-reviewed publications and 7 book chapters. She is currently funded by the NCI/NIH AREA R15 Award, specifically designed for mentoring undergraduate and graduate students. Her biomedical research and mentoring expertise are valuable to Mississippi INBRE.
