Dr. John Woolford

John Woolford, PhD is a Professor of Biological Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University. The Woolford lab investigates the mechanism of assembly of ribosomes in the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Continuously supported by the NIH since 1980. Woolford serves as the Co-director of the Center for Nucleic Acids Science and Technology at Carnegie Mellon. Woolford is a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Academy of Microbiology. Dr. Woolford is also heavily involved in educating undergraduate and graduate students. In recognition of his teaching, he received the Julius Ashkin Mellon College of Science Teaching Award, the Richard Moore Education Award, and the William and Frances Ryan University Teaching Award. Dr Wolford’s expertise and dedication to students is critical to Mississippi INBRE.
