Wayneisha Williams, junior from Alcorn State University spent her summer as part of the Mississippi INBRE Service Scholars Program. Her research was entitled “Investigating the Association Between Socio-Economic Factors and the Prevalence of Birth Defects in Mississippi”.  In the future, she plans to attend nursing school and eventually take a role in the public health field. “The Mississippi INBRE Scholars Program, helped by introducing me to people that work in the public health and nursing field, that can be a mentor to me in the future,” Williams said about her summer experience.
