The Mississippi INBRE Imaging Facility at The University of Southern Mississippi provides imaging and microscopy expertise to researchers throughout the state. The Imaging Core offers access to and training on biomedical research equipment at no cost to users. The facility houses several microscopes, including two scanning confocal systems, as well as a variety of genomic and proteomic instruments. The imaging facility also offers data acquisition and analysis services to Mississippi researchers.

Conventional and resonant scanning options are available for rapid low light illumination imaging, ideal for live specimens. Additionally, the instrument is outfitted with an Okolab CO2 chamber for long term mammalian tissue culture imaging.
image002-1Zeiss LSM 510 UV/META Confocal MicroscopeThe Zeiss 510 META combines an expanded laser system with an advanced META detector, which allows for multi-fluorescence imaging and separation of flurochromes unable to be imaged together on other instruments. The META detector also allows greater separation of background auto fluorescence from fluorescent dye emission. The Zeiss META has 4 lasers (405, 488, 543, and 633nm), allowing for multiple lines of excitation.
