R is one of the most commonly used programming languages in the biomedical sciences. In this module, students will learn basic programming skills in R and R Studio and begin using the ggplot package to visualize biomedical data, with no past coding experience needed.

Instructors: This course module can be flexibly adjusted and can be suitable for 1-2 two-hour lab sessions or 1-3 one-hour regular classes, depending on whether the instructor chooses to let students finish practicing in class or take some parts home.

Learning Objectives

  • Students will download R, R Studio, and relevant packages on a local computer.
  • Students will learn basic operations and be able to modify code in R Studio.
  • Students will learn basic skills to explore biomedical data, including creating visualization plots.
